We are going 3 days on not giving the binky to Sara. I thought this day would never come. She was really attached to the binky. We did try a couple of time to only give it to her at nap or night time but she would always sneak it in to her mouth somehow during the day. Then our speech therapist said that it really didn't hurt her so I thought OK no problem. Well it was cute when she was little but now its not so much especially when she has it in her mouth and talks, and you have no idea what she it trying to tell you.
How this day came you might ask? Well it just happened and I had no hand in it. When she went to bed 3 days ago she didn't ask for it. So Chris and I decided not to give it to since she didn't ask for it. Usually I would just offer it to her but this time we thought well if she doesn't want it then we wont push it on her. She did great. Next day she asked for it a couple of times but I told her she doesn't need it. She didn't really cry so that was easy! Yesterday she didn't ask for it ALL DAY! Today she has a low grade fever and asked for it. It was so hard to cave in but I stuck it out and she is doing good so far.
Lately when Sara used her binky she wouldn't suck on it just chew it. She made some big holes in them and so I threw them out.I was always affraid she would bite it off and choke on it. So now its easy, when she asks me where her binky is I tell her that its broken. She says "oh no the binky is broken" and then I try to change the subject and life goes on! I have learned that all the stages she goes threw she does on her own time. When I stress about it, it makes it worse. I don't care anymore what other people think or say because my child is her own person and will do things on her own terms. I new she would grow out of it and she did. NO tantrums, crying or whining!
Next on the agenda: Potty Training. Wish us luck!
