Sara's First Birthday Party

We had a great weekend. Sara went to her firsts birthday party. Mostly it was for us to meet new people from our ward and hang out with friends. It was fun, they carved pumpkins, we decided not too since we already did that we just talked and looked at everyone else's pumpkins. Its great to finally have people our age in our ward. Our old ward was great but we never had young couples to do things with. Today we had FHE with our new neighbors, they are our age and expecting a boy in February. Its going to be a fun week. Tomorrow I have my weekly park get together with some moms from our ward. Wed, relax, clean house, Thursday Baby and me class with Halloween party, Friday Trunk or Treat with the ward, and something fun for the weekend. Sorry no pictures for now but later I will post some with Sara's costume.

Fall is pumpkin time!

Well it is fall but it does not feel like fall in Whittier. Our weather here is in the 80's. But I cant complain it is nice except I miss the beautiful colors of fall. So to make it more like fall I decided to decorate our house with Halloween theme and of course carve some pumpkins. We had some friends over last Saturday to carve the pumpkins with us. Louise works with Chris and his wife Rachelle goes to the same play group with me on Tuesdays at the park, they have a son Jackson who is 11 months old. It was fun but mostly the girls carved the pumpkins. Chris did help a little but mostly I carved it because I picked a hard design so to be fair I did most of the tough carving. It turned out beautiful! Sadly though it didn't last a week! It started to dry up and then molding so we threw it out, but we have some pictures to remember it. Oh well.

Sara is 12 weeks old

Sara at 2 weeks and 12 weeks

I can't believe that it has been 12 weeks today that Sara came into our family. It has been an adventure. We love to spend time with her and now that she is getting older and learning new things it has been even more fun to see her grow. We went to the doctors on Monday for her 2 month check up. I was really not looking forward to the shots because I really don't like to see her in pain and it makes me cry. I really tried to calm down so Sara wouldn't feel the anxiety from me and thank goodness the whole thing went well and I didn't cry. She was more upset when the nurse took measurements of her head and how long she was then the shots. She is now 23 inches long and weighs 11 lb 6 oz. So she doubled her weight since she has been born! The big milestones are: she loves to hold her blanket, she can almost hold her head with out bobbing and when she is on her belly she holds her self up more. She is a lot more vocal now, when she wants something she will let you know by screaming. She makes the funniest faces when she is upset, she curls her lower lip and pouts you just cant be upset with her she is just too cute! She also loves to babble (thats the noise she makes when she talks:0) Overall she is the best baby we could hope for even when its tough you can just look at her and you know everything is worth it!
Chris calls Sara's thighs THUNDER THIGHS :0) They are just sooo cute!

Crib vs. Car seat

So since Sara has been born she has only slept in her crib a few times. She defiantly prefers the car seat. I know its not the best thing for her but is the only place she will sleep in, and when I am really exhausted I just don't care anymore and put her in there. She sleeps through the night only in her car seat. So I have been trying all different things to help her transition to the crib. I only put her in the car seat when we go somewhere and during the night. During the day she is on her gymini or when she falls asleep in my arms, I try to put her in the crib. She will only sleep in there for 30 minutes. She is like a clock, after 30 min she wakes up, but lately it has been stretching it to more like 1 hour or more.
Sara has been falling asleep in our arms, then on the couch and she didn't mind it. Since she has been sleeping not just in her car seat I thought this would be a good time to help her sleep in the crib. I decided to be sneaky, after she fell asleep in her car seat I transferred her to the crib and she slept in there half the night yesterday. She did wake up at 2 a.m. so I fed her and put her in the car seat, but last night she fell asleep in her crib and slept there the whole night!!!!! I am so excited and I hope it will work tonight also. Cross your fingers everyone :)
(The pictures with her in the crib is from her nap today)
Update: Well she slept in her crib all night but woke up every 2 hours. She woke up at 2:30 a.m. then 5 a.m. then 8. She would only eat for 5 min and fall asleep but grunt like crazy. At least I sticked to my guns and didn't put her in the car seat. Hope the next night will be easier. Lots of prayers and patience.
10/05: Sara slept in the crib all night from 12 to 7a.m. I finally had to wake her up to feed her! YAY
