One of the weekends in April we went to Santa Barbara. Chris is working there and I wanted to see where it is and check it out. He is working on a project next to the Santa Barbara Mission. The Buildings used to be St. Anthony's which was an
old Catholic Seminary. It currently is privately owned and is being seismically renovated for a local private school. Chris is working on the Main Building which was originally built in 1899 but had the 3rd & 4th floors rebuilt after the 1925 earthquake. The lower 2 levels are built of stone quarried just up the canyon, but the upper 2 levels were rebuilt with wood & plaster. We went on a tour to the Santa Barbara mission. Lets just say it was a little creepy.
I thought it was interesting to see sculls and cross bones on the church. The church had a huge tree that reminded me of the whomping willow tree from Harry Potter.
On the way home we decided to take a more scenic route. It was a really beautiful drive home. This is what Chris's drive is like too and from work.
